Seven Springs

Povertyneck @ 7 Springs

Happy 4th of July!

A week and weekend full of fun! We started the celebration at Seven Springs for the Polka Fireworks. Anyone who knows me knows what this is all about. Friday night was American night and the Povertyneck Hillbillies played in the dance hall. They put on a loud and awesome show! We had some buttery perogies for dinner with a side of polish sausage and kraut! Saturday we were the party room for Big Dan's pool party because our hotel room was right about the party - what a view, but we were happy to be out of harms way when the shaving cream fight let loose! We ended the holiday week with fireworks at Sally Buffalo Park, we had a front row seat! Also, my best friend Misty got engaged on the Fourth - Congratulations Mis & Brad! Hope everyone had a safe a joyous Fourth!

Recent Travels

I recently spent a week in Malibu California for work with my friend and co-worker Heidi. It was my first visit to the West Coast and man is it different from the East Coast that I am used to. The weather in Malibu is cold in May and the fog/smog from Los Angeles blocks the view of the Pacific ocean. We saw Tony Danza in the supermarket so I guess that counts as a star sighting. We also enjoyed dinner at the famous Paradise Cove! The pictures look nice but it was a business trip. We spend eight hours per day in training and another three to five each night studying for Saturday mornings exam. (Update - I received my results in the mail a few days ago and I PASSED MY EXAM! Whew! Now I can move on to the second phase of my trust training next spring!)

They day I returned from California, Mike & I jumped in the car and took off for a weeks vacation on Hilton Head Island. We had a great condo right on the beach and even saw some dolphins swimming in the ocean. We ate lots and lots of great food and tried Thia food for the first time (yummy)! We climbed the lighthouse but didn't see any of sea turtles or alligators that Hilton Head is famous for! This was our first trip to HH and we really enjoyed it - I am sure we will return there some day.

While in Hilton Head, we took a day trip over to Savannah Georgia (about a 45 minute car ride). It's a beautiful historic city with great architecture! If you ever get a chance to visit, it's a great time. One of the highlights of our trip was that we got to eat at Paula Deen's (from Food Network) restaurant The Lady & Sons and walked along the famous River Walk!

My Husband Mike

These are my favorite two pictures of Mike & I. The first is one of our engagement pictures taken on Coquina Beach in Nags Head, NC (shootersphoto.com) in May of 2003 and the second is a picture of our first dance at our wedding reception at the Carnes Center.

Longaberger

Last Saturday my Mom & I took a bus trip up to Longaberger, near Zanesville. It was a beautiful spring day! The first picture is their home office, yes, it's a giant basket! The next picture is their signature apple basket located at the Homestead. We got to see baskets being made, we shopped at the new Factory Store (retired products and seconds) and did lots of shopping. If you like baskets and home decorating, the Homestead is a nice day trip!

Happy 3rd Anniversary!!!

Mike & I celebrated out third wedding anniversary on April 17th, 2007. We enjoyed a multi-course French lunch at the culinary school (including wine, yummy!) and when I got home from work there were flowers waiting for me on the china cabinet. Someone asked me if three years went fast and I guess it did, but we have known each other for 10 years this summer and I honestly can hardly remember life before him...
